Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern Hidri, the family-tree service at family.myhidri.com (also reachable at erifamily-staging.onrender.com), operated by Aklilu Tuccu as a sole proprietor. In these terms “Hidri”, “we” and “us” mean that service and its operator.
Hidri is a private family tree for the use of one extended family. It is offered free of charge. There is no company behind it, nothing is sold, and there is no advertising.
Who may use it
Access is by invitation from a family administrator, or through a share link sent to you by a relative. Accounts are for adults. Do not share your sign-in with anyone else, and do not pass a share link to people outside the family — a link identifies the person it was sent to, and it can be withdrawn.
Text messages
What you get. If you enter your own mobile number on the sign-in screen and agree, Hidri texts you a one-time code so you can sign in. That is the only text message Hidri sends.
- Frequency: only when you request a sign-in code. Typically one message per request, and never unrequested.
- Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile operator's charges are between you and them.
- To stop: reply STOP to any message. You will receive one confirmation and then nothing further.
- For help: reply HELP, or use the contact below.
- Stopping texts does not close your account and does not stop you signing in with your email address.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- We only text a number that you typed yourself and agreed to. A number a relative recorded about you is never texted.
The family's data is the family's
The records here are about real relatives, many of whom did not enter them themselves. If you can edit the tree, you are being trusted with other people's information:
- Record what you believe to be true, and correct it when you learn otherwise.
- Do not add contact details for someone who would not want them shared with the family.
- Do not copy the tree, or people's contact details, out of the app for any purpose other than the family's own record-keeping.
- Photographs you upload must be ones you are entitled to share.
Every change is recorded with your name against it, and can be reviewed and undone by an administrator.
What is not allowed
Do not attempt to reach data you have not been given access to, disrupt the service, upload anything unlawful, or use the app to harass anyone. Access can be withdrawn.
Availability and warranty
This is a personal project. It is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, may lose data, and may change or stop at any time. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the app can export the tree. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the app means accepting the current version.
